Last self reflection blog!
In my opinion, the purpose of this blogging activity was because we had been doing so many boring writing exercises along our years in school that we should do something that we wanted, writing of course, but to write about what we want and what we are passionate about. It also encouraged and made us better writers with doing what we wanted to write about, which makes it a win – win situation for both the student and my teacher, Ms. Rumford,; we wrote and we wrote about what they wanted. She also wanted us do a blog so we could learn how to use the blog and how to use one of the many ways to express and put information on the internet.
The things I accomplished during blogging was how to be a better writer by having to implement different sentence inclusions such as the poem format, doing a conclusion and introduction, using synonyms of words that I didn’t know and identifying the type of sentence they were. I have also accomplished that doing just a little bit of research to try and find tiny details can fill that space in your blog that is missing such as if you were doing baseball players and you didn’t put some of their stats that wouldn’t be very helpful to most people.
Some key concepts I have learned were for one I have obviously learned about blogging and how it is done, for example to get a Clustr Map, how to add widgets, how to approve and decline comments etc. I have also learned to cite my sources so if I use someone else’s writing or pictures it won’t be plagiarized. The length also made me go on the TV and play the game a bit more so that was a great benefit of doing a blog on games.
The weekly requirements made me a better writer because for example, identifying and highlighting your sentences, knowing when to use a comma, semi-colon, phrases and clauses, etc. These different sentence inclusions made me become a better writer because I had to use words that I hadn’t, thus learning the meaning of them and also words with similar meanings (synonyms). I also had to cite my sources, which sometimes I just found annoying and useless but I found out why you need to source and that is because you could get into a lot of trouble if you didn’t cite and someone found you had used their writing and plagiarized it.
Well it will definitely benefit me in the future if I need to create another blog or need to do more posts on a blog. It will also benefit me to cite my sources. It will also benefit me because of the way we did some of our blogs such as the word limit and the various sentence inclusions we had to include. It will also benefit me and the people who read my blog because they get information out of it and I get to play a game and basically do a review on it explaining how it is and how it works. So thanks to Ms. Rumford for this year of Language Arts! I have certainly learnt a lot and enjoyed blogging!
